Which SSL Certificate should I choose?

How will the SSL Certificate be installed? Do I need to do anything?
If your account is already hosted with Web Hosting Canada, our technicians will install your certificate on your account free of charge. Please note that all SSL certificates require a dedicated IP address (which may be ordered at the same time as your certificate for 29,95$ + tax, yearly).
If you do not have an account with Web Hosting Canada, there will be a 1-time $50 installation fee on your server. Please contact our team to confirm the details of your hosting environment before your purchase.
Depending on the certificate your choose, you may be asked to provide proof of your (or your business') identity. These requests will be sent to you by email following your order, and it is important that you provide all the required justifications so that your certificate may be issued in a timely manner.

How can I use my SSL certificate once it's installed?
If you are using a simple HTML web site, using your SSL certificate simply involves changing your links (or URLs) from "http" to "https". All https pages are encrypted with your SSL certificate.
If you are using a Content Management System (including E-Commerce applications), there will generally be an option in your program allowing you to easily enable SSL.
Validation Type
Before a certificate authority issues an SSL certificate, they validate the information provided in the request. The more complete the validation, the more site visitors trust the certificate.
Domain validation validates that a domain administrator has approved the order by email.
Organization Validation verifies domain ownership, plus organization information included in the certificate (name, city, state/province)
Extended Validation validates domain ownership and organization information, plus legal existence, verifying that the organization is aware of and approves the certificate request.
Green Bar
Only Extended Validation (EV) Certificates trigger the address bar to turn green whenever a secured web page is accessed in high-security browsers, a convenient and visible sign of trust for site visitors.
Trust Level
When the verification process for issuing a certificate is more rigorous, the trust level conferred by the certificate is also higher, which will make your web site's visitor more likely to trust you and your web site. EV certificates, for example, offer the highest trust level and also allow you to display a dynamic seal on your web site.
Site Seal
While all certificates display a security padlock in the browser, you can also choose to add a site seal to your site to further demonstrate that your site is secure. A site seal is a small image that contains information about your SSL certificate. Static site seals are images that do not change; they are identical for anyone purchasing a certificate. Dynamic seals actually show your company's name, address, and date, making them even more trustworthy.
Dedicated IP
All SSL certificates hosted with Web Hosting Canada require dedicated IP addresses, sold separately at a cost of 29,95$ per year. Please note that we cannot install an SSL certificate on a site that does not currently have a dedicated IP address. Moving a site to a dedicated IP address may cause several hours of downtime will the information is propagated across the networks of the Internet.
Subdomains Secured
The Wildcard SSL certificate allows you to secure multiple subdomains, centralizing management while minimizing cost.
RapidSSL and EV certificates only allow you to secure a signle subdomain.
Site Seal
A site seal is a convenient and visible way to show your visitors that their site is protected. A static site seal will show that your site is secured, without displaying specific information about your organization, whereas a dynamic site will show that your site is secured and, if clicked, will display additional information about your organization, thus increasing trust.
